01  The Concept

The water, without the building

Ever thought of being on the water without anything disturbing the view? Just you, the sea, and the most beautiful view in the world.

That is the brief the AQUAMARINE square-space platform was created to answer. It is not a building on piles and not a vessel — it is a free-floating surface that you anchor, moor and furnish as you like. The official product brief puts it plainly: created for all those who live or love to spend time beside the water, a simple-looking platform that fits every taste and takes high-design furniture without effort.

Each unit is a 6 × 6 metre square — 36 square metres of usable deck — and because every unit connects to the next, the platform is not a fixed product but a building material. Two units make a private lounge; a row of units makes an event deck; a cluster with walkways becomes a small over-water plaza for a beach resort.

The deck plane sits low at the waterline, so guests step aboard rather than climb aboard. That single decision is what makes the platform work for dining, yoga sessions, small events and swimming access alike — uses that a high freeboard pontoon boat makes awkward.

02  The Modular Core

Two module shapes, one connectable grid

Beneath every layout sits a simple, rotomoulded float system — square and triangular modules that clip into any plan shape.

The platform floats on HDPE modules filled with EPS foam. The square module is the workhorse of the grid; the triangular module closes angles and rounds corners, so the platform edge can follow the site instead of forcing the site to follow the grid.

Each square module measures 110 × 110 × 44 cm, weighs 32 kg with a 4 mm wall, and delivers 400 kg of buoyancy. The triangular counterpart measures 110 × 110 × 43 cm, weighs 25 kg and delivers 230 kg of buoyancy. Because the foam-filled core cannot take on water even if the shell is punctured, the floatation is inherently fail-safe — there is nothing to inflate and nothing to flood.

Modules connect mechanically into a single rigid surface, which is what allows a platform to carry parasols, furniture and crowds without the "trampoline feel" of small interlocking tiles.

  • Square module P28 — 110 × 110 × 44 cm, 32 kg, 400 kg buoyancy
  • Triangular module P29 — 110 × 110 × 43 cm, 25 kg, 230 kg buoyancy
  • HDPE shell + EPS core — 4 mm wall, foam-filled, cannot flood
  • Rigid connected surface — modules lock into one stable deck plane

03  Deck & Finish

A surface chosen for the site, not the catalogue

The same platform reads completely differently depending on the deck you specify — and the system accepts all of them.

Deck coverings available for the AQUAMARINE include wooden and WPC flooring for a warm, hospitality-grade finish, external polypropylene blades for a hard-wearing, low-maintenance surface, and synthetic grass for beach clubs and family resorts where barefoot comfort matters most.

The shell itself carries a special protective layer against impact and scratching — a detail that matters in public and commercial installations where fenders, keels and trolleys will inevitably make contact. According to the official description, the layer ensures that no damage can be caused by hitting or scratching, which is what keeps a rental platform looking new after seasons of hard use.

Underfoot, the deck texture is finished to be confident in wet conditions, so the platform works as a swimming access point without becoming a liability when guests cross it dripping wet.

04  Equipment & Options

Furnished like a venue, equipped like a dock

An empty deck is only the starting point — the option list is what turns it into a usable waterside venue.

For safety and circulation, the platform accepts guardrails, walkways and cleats: guardrails where children or evening crowds are expected, dedicated walkways where the platform connects to shore or to a beach, and cleats wherever tenders, kayaks or small craft need a proper tie-off.

For comfort and shade, the system supports roofing structures, shade sails and floor sails. A hard roof turns a platform into an all-weather pavilion; shade sails cool the lounging zones in high summer; and the parasol arrangement shown across the official imagery demonstrates how the deck hosts a full furniture layout — loungers, dining sets and umbrellas — without exceeding its load budget.

Because anchoring and mooring are resolved at the design stage, the platform holds position in open water as reliably as in a sheltered bay. There are many ways of taking the helicopter to the dance floor, as the product brief memorably puts it — the platform arrives as a complete venue, not a kit of parts.

  • Guardrails & walkways — safe circulation and shore connection
  • Cleats & mooring — tie-off for tenders and small craft
  • Roofing & shade sails — from hard roof to tensile shade
  • Anchoring designed in — holds position in open water
